About Rear Admiral Becker, USN (Ret)…
One of the intelligence community’s most respected and decorated senior military officials, the recently retired Rear Admiral Paul Becker achieved success by building and leading large, diverse high-performing teams in peace, crisis and combat. He most recently led the Presidential Transition’s Intelligence Community Team, providing policy input, strategic guidance and operational counsel to the Directors of National Intelligence, CIA and other Cabinet Secretaries for roles in the new administration. He offers a strategic perspective from senior assignments within the National Intelligence Community, regional expertise in Asia, the Middle East and Europe and an extensive cyber operations background.
His service includes Director of Intelligence for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who provided direct military advice to the President, the U.S. Pacific Command in Hawaii, the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command in Afghanistan and was a Naval Attaché to France.
A dynamic speaker with widely published interviews and articles, he is well versed in American security challenges and opportunities. Highlighting his leadership accomplishments, the Naval Intelligence Community recognized Admiral Becker by naming the newly established “Teamwork, Tone, Tenacity” award in his honor. His focus on these leadership core attributes is applicable to all companies and organizations.
He holds an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a BS in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he is a Senior Fellow with the Center for Naval Analyses and is a Professor of Practice at the University of Virginia’s Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy.
Rear Admiral Becker is a recipient of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s, Department of Defense’s and Navy’s Distinguished Service Medals, the National Military Intelligence Association’s Leadership Award and the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations’ Ellis Island Medal of Honor. He and his wife reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
